Information from Cuba’s First Deputy Minister of Economy and Planning, Mildrey Granadillo de la Torre, second head of the Economic Group that has worked on the government’s projections to correct distortions and reimpulse the economy.
A greeting to our population, ratifying the principle that the Government’s projections to correct distortions and boost the economy during 2024 will only be implemented if the conditions for this are created.

In defense of this principle, the decision has been made to postpone the implementation of a Government projection related to the updating of fuel prices and their commercialization in a selected network of service stations to be sold in foreign currency.

This decision is influenced by the occurrence of a cybersecurity incident in the computer systems for the commercialization of fuels, the origin of which has been identified in a virus from abroad, in the causes of which we are conducting an investigation.

We ratify that the updating of fuel prices is necessary to encourage savings, to contain the demand due to the high prices faced by the country for the purchase of fuels in the international market and to be able to allocate to other activities of production of goods and services of the economy.

The logistical conditions and the sale of fuel are maintained at the levels we have been carrying out up to now. Therefore, there will be no stoppage in the services we provide for the sale of fuels to our population.

We will be informed in due time when the conditions are in place to implement the Government’s projection related to the updating of fuel prices.
