With the commitment to defend the work of the Revolution and the strength of working-class unity, the May Day plenary began in the health sector of Ciego de Ávila, a day marking the firm step of workers towards a celebration where enthusiasm, organisation and revolutionary firmness will once again be multiplied.
The reading of the call by the Cuban Workers’ Federation opened this meeting, which forms part of the preparatory actions in the province to guarantee a superior, more organised, colourful and combative parade, worthy of the moment the country is experiencing.

Sulema Veliz Pina, a member of the provincial secretariat of the CTC, reported that, for the first time, the plenaries are being held at the trade union level, a decision that strengthens preparation from the grassroots and allows each collective to precisely define its initiatives, its location and the way in which it will participate in the great march of the proletariat.
In the 15 trade unions represented in the Avilanian province, details are being fine-tuned, ideas are being consolidated and the will to turn May Day into a powerful demonstration of unity is being reinforced.
«In these meetings, the order of the parade, the concentration points and the initiatives that will distinguish each block are organised, to ensure that workers arrive better prepared and with greater clarity to show, once again, the creativity, discipline and mobilisation capacity of the Cuban workers’ movement.»
The health sector, a daily protagonist in great battles for life, ratified in this plenary its decision to be present in the squares with the same spirit of dedication with which it faces each working day. Doctors, nurses, technicians and support workers will once again march alongside the people, aware that the streets are also a place for defending the Homeland.
The CTC’s call, read during the plenary, called for a May Day that will move the country through unity, loyalty and the irrevocable commitment to defend the Cuban social project. It is the call not to allow the work built with sacrifice, resistance and dignity to be snatched from us.
This May Day will not be just a date on the calendar. It will be another demonstration of support for the Revolution, of confidence in the people’s ability to overcome difficulties and of conviction that Cuba remains standing, defending its sovereignty with the strength of its workers.

This was expressed by Dr Ana Rosa Valdés Rodríguez, a member of the provincial bureau of the health trade union in Ciego de Ávila, who stated that the men and women of health are already preparing their voices, their initiatives and their flags.
They will go to the parade with the certainty that marching on May Day is also marching for the Homeland, for social justice and for the unrenounceable decision to continue resisting, creating and overcoming.
