Food production and crime control to be discussed in Cuba

Food production and crime control will be on the agenda of the 8th Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, to be held on 5 and 6 July, the daily Granma reported today.

According to the source, the meeting will also analyse issues related to the prevention and confrontation of corruption, crime, illegalities and social indiscipline, phenomena that threaten social welfare and the achievements of our people, and which require a battle that requires the conscious participation of all. These fronts are impacted by the intensified economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba and, therefore, its consequences weigh on the prosperity of our people, the note pointed out.

It also pointed out that these issues are considered by the country’s leadership to be of national security, since their stability offers guarantees for the gradual recovery of national life.

At the Plenary Session, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee will also give an account of its management in the period since the previous meeting, as a demonstration of its adherence to the principles of democracy and transparency that characterise our revolutionary process and the party organisation as the vanguard of society, the text stated.
