Flamenco Day, Latin Grammy Awards in Seville

On the occasion of the International Day of Flamenco, Seville hosts tonight the Latin Grammy Awards Ceremony, which for the first time will be held outside the United States.

A golden opportunity to showcase all the glamour of the capital of Andalusia, Spain’s quintessential region of dancers, singers, and guitars that adorn the joy, dynamism, and strength of flamenco.

No one involved in the so-called Latin Grammy could remain indifferent before the numerous flamenco performances in Seville, Granada, and other Andalusian cities, to confirm the party atmosphere that usually dominates this Iberian area.

Cuba’s representation arrives enthusiastically at the gala, with a delegation led by the Egrem record label that includes the nominees in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Album, Septeto Santiaguero with «Y sigo palante», and Orquesta Failde «Danzoneando. En vivo desde Matanzas», both in co-production with El Cerrito Records.

Fernando Dewar, director of the Septeto Santiaguero, will be part of the Caribbean island’s entourage,

Ethiel Failde, head of the Failde Orchestra, and Pedro Pablo Cruz, record producer and manager of the Failde group.

Also present were Reinier Rodríguez, General Director of Egrem, Adriana Pazos, head of Art and Repertoire, and Heidy González, Egrem’s Record Producer.

The Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones (FIBES) in Seville will be the main venue for the ceremony, scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. local time.

The three-hour show will be hosted by Puerto Rico’s Roselyn Sanchez, Spain’s Paz Vega, Colombia’s Sebastian Yatra, and Mexico’s Danna Paola.

There will be performances by Spain’s Rosalia, Mexico’s Carin Leon, and Colombia’s Maluma, among others.
