Five young researchers from Ciego de Ávila were recognised by Cuba’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) during the inauguration of the 15th International Convention on Environment and Development at Havana’s Convention Palace.

The Young Researcher Awards were conferred upon Doctors of Science Claudia Linares Rivero and Lianny Pérez Gómez – both from the Centre for Plant Biotechnology – and Jorge Luis Carrera Martínez, a physician at the Provincial Hospital Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola.

The awards for researchers Claudia Linares Rivero and Lianny Pérez Gómez fall under the Agricultural Sciences category, while Carrera Martínez’s recognition pertains to Medical Sciences.

Student Researcher Honourable Mentions were awarded to Melissa Pardo Pérez and Marialicia Tibau Avello from the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences at Avilanian university Máximo Gómez Báez.
