The XII Family Medicine Conference held in Ciego de Ávila with an attractive programme of didactic activities and tributes.

Some 60 medical research papers were presented at the event, three keynote lectures were given and a round table discussion was held on the Mother and Child Programme and Family Medicine.

An emotional event was the awarding of the Carlos J. Finlay Order to Dr. and professor Jorge José Pérez Assef, and a posthumous tribute was paid to Dr. Felipe Aragón, an outstanding doctor from Avila, with a long career in the health sector.

The 15 years of work of the University of Medical Sciences Ciego de Avila, which has trained professionals in different medical specialities, both Cuban and foreign, were also recognised.

A special moment was the presentation of the book by Dr. Rubén Carlos Mayo Márquez and the presentation of the scientific work of the Family Medicine Chapter of the province of Avila.
