Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People’s Power and the Council of State of Cuba, today held a meeting with the president of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly (Senate) of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, as part of his official visit to the Eurasian nation.

According to the Cuban Parliament on its website, in the exchange both parties highlighted the close relations between the two legislative bodies.

The programme of the parliamentary leader’s visit, which began on Tuesday, includes official talks with Russian authorities, as well as her participation in the Second Session of the Commission for Collaboration between the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of People’s Power, together with her counterpart Vyacheslav Volodin.

Upon his arrival, Esteban Lazo attended the traditional ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow as a tribute to the heroes who defeated fascism.
