The donation of occluders and barrels for laser printers benefit students with special educational needs at the Águedo Morales Reina school in the Avileño territory.
Wilfredo Osuna Rodríguez, director of this educational institution in Ciego de Ávila, said that someone might say that it is a crumb, but this is not the case, occluders do not exist in the country and are very useful for students with low vision.
On this occasion, the director explained that the batteries will also be used in sound amplifiers, which are useful for children with hearing impairments, and educational games for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
In this sense, he assured that because of the cruel imperialist blockade imposed on the nation more than 60 years ago, the entry into the country of these devices and others essential for the proper care of students is hindered.
This is the second delivery from the solidarity group «Puentes de Amor» (Bridges of Love), the first consisted of patches for occluders, batteries for hearing aids and highlighters necessary for the stimulation of vision.
The search for alternatives to make up for the material shortages, the love and effort deployed by the educators of Avila, make it possible to continue with special education, which prepares this segment of the population for their insertion into society.
For more than six decades, the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States against Cuba has restricted access to resources and technologies that guarantee the integral development of children and adolescents with special educational needs.
