Doctors from Ciego de Ávila will assist earthquake victims in Syria and Turkey

Three Avilanians take part in the advance guard of the Henry Reeve International Contingent of Doctors Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics, who will shortly assist the victims of the earthquake that occurred in Syria and Turkey.

Doctors Alemy Paret Rodríguez, pediatrician; Adrián González Vigo, an orthopedist, and Arnaldo Yadró Jiménez, a psychiatrist, are the first summoned from the province of Ciego de Ávila, to care for injured survivors of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake, which on Monday shook areas of Syria and Turkey.

Cuba, in its habitual willingness to offer medical aid to countries suffering from natural disasters, immediately activated brigades from the Henry Reeve contingent that will travel in the next few hours to the affected nations, where more than 38,000 injuries are reported.

The Provincial Health Directorate is willing to summon more professionals from Ciego de Ávila to provide medical assistance, both in Syria and Turkey, as well as to countries that need services from different specialties.
