The delegates of the municipal parliaments in Cuba started today to prepare for the next accountability process, scheduled for 20 September.
This process provides an opportunity for community representatives to be accountable to their constituents for their performance during their term of office.
It will also allow the more than 14,000 delegates of the People’s Power to feed back the opinions of the population through debates that will lead to solutions.
According to the president of the National Assembly of People’s Power (parliament), Esteban Lazo, the upcoming exercise will be a profoundly revolutionary, democratic and transcendental process.
During a recent meeting with presidents of Municipal Assemblies, he pointed out that the constant exchange of opinions between delegates and voters must be the premise of accountability. This will be the first process of the mandate that began in December 2022, therefore the premiere for a high percentage of renewed delegates (around 50 percent) renewed in that exercise.
