Cuban Paralympic delegation on its way to the homeland

The delegation representing Cuba at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will arrive in the homeland tomorrow night, according to the competition headquarters.

Headed by the sprinter Omara Durand, winner of the golden metal in the T12 category in the 400, 200 and 100 metres flat distances, the parathletes who aroused so many feelings of admiration and affection throughout the largest Caribbean Island, will arrive home.

The delegation, made up of technicians, medical personnel and directors, will receive on their arrival the embrace of the country’s authorities, who have followed their performance from the first moment, charged with emotion, consecration and loyalty to the Revolution, as has always characterised Cuban sportsmen and women with disabilities.

Although the most important thing in this type of inclusive competition is not the number of podiums achieved, but the human being and the values formed in a society like ours, the Antillean harvest in the French capital filled Cubans with pride.

Six gold medals, three silver and one bronze to place the country in a meritorious 24th place in the overall medal table, puts the sporting movement on a high note and demonstrates that human beings are capable of achieving any goal they set themselves.

As planned, on Tuesday, the entire delegation will be officially welcomed at the Coliseum of the Ciudad Deportiva in the capital at 08:00 local time, and will then go on a tour of various collectives in different sectors, which will have the opportunity – on behalf of all Cubans – to pay tribute to their performances with the most heartfelt affection and affection.

Among the institutions to be visited are the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), the special school Solidarity with Panama, the Cuban International Tobacco Company (ICT) and the Barbados Martyrs Sports Initiation School (Eide).

As expressed by the First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in several messages on his X account, this delegation shook the homeland by their example, talent, gratitude and loyalty.
