Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuba’s Foreign Minister, today reiterated his condemnation of Israel’s extermination of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
In X, the head of Cuban diplomacy denounced Israeli plans to usurp territory in the city of Rafah, which would interfere with the entry of humanitarian aid.
«Israel insists on its extermination of the Palestinian people in Gaza, where it has killed 50,810 people. While it bombs and destroys basic civilian infrastructure on a daily basis, it plans to usurp territory in the city of Rafah, which would further aggravate the influx of humanitarian aid,» the foreign minister said.
According to local media reports, 23 people were killed in an Israeli bombing of a residential building in the Gaza City neighbourhood of Shujaiy early Wednesday morning.
After a two-month truce, Israel resumed its bombing and then its ground offensive on 18 March.
The Gaza Strip health ministry announced on Wednesday that 1,482 people have died since 18 March.
Israeli plans are to destroy the city of Rafah, a town of 200,000 people, which would partially disconnect the Strip from its 12-kilometre border with Egypt.
The loss of Rafah would affect the 14-kilometre-long humanitarian corridor of the same name.
Since 7 October 2023, the number of Palestinians killed by Israeli attacks has risen to 50,846, most of them women and children.
