Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez arrived in New York today to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly, where he will denounce the impact of the blockade imposed by the United States on the island.
The head of Cuban diplomacy informed X that during his stay he will promote multilateralism, peace and sustainable development for all nations.
Rodríguez explained that he will take part in the Summit of the Future and the Fifth National Meeting of Cubans Residing in the United States.
The new session began on 10 September, two weeks before the high-level segment that will bring together more than 150 world leaders at the United Nations headquarters in New York on 22 and 23 September.
At the opening ceremony, outgoing President Dennis Francis handed over the iconic gavel announcing the start and end of the session to Philemon Yang, former Prime Minister of Cameroon.
Yang took office «with all loyalty, discretion and conscience» and assured that his mandate will focus on diversity to advance peace, sustainable development and human dignity for all people everywhere.
