Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia arrived in Beijing today to participate in the Second High-Level Meeting of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development.
The event will be held from 11 to 13 July under the theme «Promoting Sustainable Development: Sustained Action for a Better Future», informed the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA).
The Cuban delegation also includes the director of Trade Policy with Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Trade, Vilma Sánchez.
According to the agenda, Tapia will also complete a bilateral programme that includes meetings with authorities from the Asian giant.
The visit of the Cuban leader is a continuation of the high-level exchanges between the two countries, described by Chinese President Xi Jinping as «good friends, good brothers and good partners».
On the other hand, this year’s edition of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development will bring together high-level representatives from more than 50 nations and international organisations.
The main activities include the opening and closing ceremonies, as well as five parallel sub-forums on the eight key areas of cooperation of the Global Development Initiative.
According to Zhao Fengtao, Deputy Director of CIDCA, the forum will «deepen South-South cooperation and lead international collaboration for development».
He added that China will focus on building a series of cooperation platforms, maximise the effect of the global development project pool and financing fund, and innovate collaboration models.
He said the Asian giant will strive to build a series of small but beautiful projects in the fields of poverty alleviation, health and green energy.
