The 64th National Baseball Series continues today with the resumption of the clashes that were suspended yesterday due to rain, following a day marked by knockouts, long-range hits and close scorelines.
At the 26 de Julio in Artemisa, the Cazadores and the Mayabeque Huracanes will face off again, with a partial 2-0 advantage for the latter in the second chapter. The Artemiseños debuted yesterday with a 1-0 victory, supported by six zeros hung by Yunieski García and another historic save by José Ángel García.
For its part, at the Victoria de Girón in Matanzas, the contest stopped in the ninth inning with a favourable scoreboard of 5-4 to the Ciego de Ávila Tigers will be completed. Half an hour after concluding, both teams will clash again in a match agreed to seven chapters.
The preceding day left headlines. In Santiago de Cuba, the Avispas signed their third consecutive knockout against the Isla de la Juventud Pirates, this time 12-0, with protagonism from Harold Vázquez (home run, double, single and six runs batted in) and an impeccable job from Yosiel Serrano.
The Industriales of Havana also repeated success against the Cienfuegos Elefantes (4-2), with home runs from Roberto Álvarez and Ariel Hechavarría plus the complete game from Remberto Barreto in a clash reduced to five innings by rain.
In other results the Camagüey Toros and the Guantánamo Indios split; Villa Clara halted the unbeaten run of Sancti Spíritus; Holguín overcame Granma and Las Tunas left Pinar del Río lying on the field.
