Cuba Refutes False Information Regarding Venezuela

Josefina Vidal, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, rejected and refuted today information from press media, regarding alleged contacts between Cuban officials and those of the United States government to address internal matters related to Venezuela.

Due to its interest, we reproduce below the statements published on the official site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex).

The aggressions and threats of war against sister Venezuela have drawn widespread international rejection and also within the United States. In this context, warmongering sectors in the United States resort to crude lies in an attempt to break the unity of the Venezuelan government and people against external aggression, as well as to involve Cuba in the construction of falsehoods and pretexts to justify their aggression.

Cuba rejects as absurd and false the press reports that claim alleged contacts between Cuban officials and those of the United States government to address internal matters that only concern the government of Venezuela.

Likewise, Cuba rejects attempts to tarnish its clean history of struggle for peace in Latin America and the Caribbean and against drug trafficking. United States specialised agencies know first-hand of Cuba’s effectiveness in confronting drug trafficking, as they directly benefited from it, until Secretary of State Marco Rubio instructed the unilateral cutting of dialogue and cooperation on matters of migration and law enforcement and compliance.

Any attempt to use the current scenario against the Bolivarian Revolution, to cast doubt on the invariable and firm support of our people and government in these dangerous circumstances for Latin America and the Caribbean, will be futile.
