Comprehensive Project of Haitian Traditions

A comprehensive project of Haitian traditions, based on the outskirts of the city of Morón, precisely in the rural community of Tuero, has been cultivated with care and dedication since 2016, with the emergence of the dance group Fann Zetwall.

According to details from Larry Morales Rodríguez, President of the Provincial Branch of the Nicolás Guillén Foundation, this community socio-cultural project receives technical advice from the organisation.

Yambambó not only limits its action to the beating of drums by female hands, but also to many other expressions of Haitian Culture, including the development of the country’s typical cuisine.

Evoking the words of the distinguished historian Larry Morales about the Yambambó Project: «They accumulate more merit every time: respect for Afro-Cuban culture, its promotion from the community, the art they have taken to the biggest stages in the country… The ‘star women’ already have a record, a video clip, an audiobook, a documentary, these inspired by them, and a great desire to create.» (Author: Leonel Iparraguirre González)
