An additional effort to guarantee the monitoring and conservation of the avifauna in the Central and Western ecological reserve of Cayo Coco is being carried out by specialists of the protected area under the administration of the Company for the Protection of Flora and Fauna in this important site.
The work of Odey Martínez Llanes is of vital importance, who claims that the monitoring actions have also been linked to the tourist activity, taking into consideration the number of clients that the destination receives, whose main objective is bird watching, an activity that guarantees important income in freely convertible currency for the company.
Martínez Llanes adds that over the years, experience has been acquired in the management of some species susceptible to extreme meteorological phenomena, such as the case of the crested grebes, which, after the passage of strong hurricanes, require the installation of feeders due to the total disappearance of the flowers as a result of the impact of such meteorological phenomena.
Thus, specialists of the company for the protection of flora and fauna are working to safeguard the natural heritage in the northern keys of Morón, a task with a great impact, not only on the protection of the environment, but also on the promotion of the leisure industry.
