In order to guarantee the planned synchronisation plan, Unit 4 of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes thermoelectric power plant (CTE) in Cienfuegos and machine 2 of the Ernesto Guevara CTE in Santa Cruz del Norte, the tubular elements of the boilers are already in the completion phase, which will contribute to complying with the maintenance schedule.
This was stated by engineer Delvys Echegoyen Díaz, director of the Central de Reparaciones base business unit of the Empresa de Mantenimiento a Centrales Eléctricas (EMCE), who explained that, although most of the spare parts for the boiler at CTE Carlos Manuel de Céspedes are finished, 15 ducts of the primary superheater are missing, which are in the process of being hydraulically tested for subsequent transport to the thermal unit.
Echegoyen Díaz pointed out that, for unit number 2 in Santa Cruz, the company is manufacturing the economiser, the reheater two, and a ceiling-mounted superheater, additions for which it is working 24 hours a day, «as the completion date is very closely linked to the assembly date».
Regarding the state of the coils that the economiser has, he added that they are finished, and in these days they must begin with the welding of the microblocks to later deliver the pieces to the cte.
With its function of manufacturing and repairing spare parts for thermal power plants, EMCE is part of the strategy that will gradually reduce the impact on the supply of electricity.
