With a political and cultural event at the Etecsa Management Office, next Saturday, the labor collectives of RadioCuba, Joven Club de Computación y Electrónica, Empresa de Aplicaciones Informáticas (Desoft) and Correos de Cuba in Ciego de Avila will celebrate the Communications Workers’ Day.

Yanara Quintero León, secretary general of the Provincial Bureau of that union, informed that in accordance with Law number 17 of the System of Decorations and Honorary Titles, 22 comrades will receive the Mario Muñoz Monroy medal, for their uninterrupted permanence in the sector for 20 and 25 years.

Cleaning and beautification of the centers, participation games, job fairs, promotions, creation of interest circles and the linking to the decisive effort days to contribute to food production, are among the activities developed to celebrate the date.

Every February 24, Communicator’s Day is celebrated in the largest of the Antilles, as a tribute to the first official transmission of Radio Rebelde in the Sierra Maestra, in 1958, made by Commander Ernesto «Che» Guevara.
