Ciego de Avila’s health workers aim to reverse negative results

Committed to the health of the people, the workers of this sector have as a priority to reverse the negative results recorded during the recently concluded 2023 in the main indicators of this sector.

Strategies to consolidate the work in the Maternal and Infant Care Program (PAMI) is a priority in Ciego de Avila, taking into account that the municipality closed with an infant mortality rate of seven per 1000 live births.

This was revealed during the annual balance of the General Directorate of Health in the capital municipality, where it was learned that the refusal of pregnant women to enter the maternity hospitals was one of the factors that contributed to this result.

According to Liset Martínez Yanes, head of PAMI in the provincial capital of Avila, non-compliance with the protocols for obstetrics and pediatrics, and with the provisions of the Family Doctor and Nurse Program for inter-consultations, were also detected.

During the assessment, it was also revealed that the essence of the clinics and the permanence of the basic teams in these institutions should be rescued, due to the need to provide integrated attention to the population.

The epidemiological situation during the past year was also mentioned, marked to a great extent by the incidence of dengue fever and the factors that led to it, among them, the lack of staffing for focal treatment, difficulties with the collection of solid waste, and social indiscipline, and the poor multisectoral work.

In the presence of the main directors of the sector and leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba in the municipality of Ciego de Avila, the best workers were recognized, who committed themselves to continue working for the health of the people. (Mariesly Wong Morales)
