The Doctor José Assef Yara University of Medical Sciences, in Ciego de Avila, has just received the Certified status after a rigorous evaluation, which assessed the quality of its teaching, among other factors.

Different qualifications were added to the general one, since six postgraduate programs were individually awarded the term of Accredited of Excellence, which are those of the medical specialties of orthopedics and traumatology, intensive medicine, pediatrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation, general surgery, and natural and traditional medicine.

The careers of Medicine and Stomatology were given the qualification of Certified and five postgraduate programs finished as Accredited of Certified and they are: Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, Neonatology and Cardiology.

The high educational center of Avila effectively fulfills the purpose of training the medical and paramedical personnel that sustains the health system of the province, under its motto of «Developing University that embraces its dreams towards excellence».
