After checking at midday on Wednesday the resuscitation work being carried out at the Latin American stadium in the capital, the working group of INDER’s national management, headed by the organisation’s vice-president Omar Venegas Echemendía, travelled to Ciego de Ávila with the aim of continuing the tour of the provinces involved in the III Elite Cuban Baseball League.
The territory’s sports director Leonardo Rodríguez Sánchez, detailed each of the actions that will be undertaken in the coming days, to make ready the José R. Cepero stadium, which is the home of the Tigers.
«We have drawn up a chronogram to comply with the 30 indicators requested by the National Commission, we plan to carry out 40 actions that include resuscitation, painting and above all the conditioning of the pitch, which is fundamental».
For the Elite League to be a success, it needs the support of the political and governmental authorities of the territories. «We check daily what we are missing with the companies involved in the resuscitation work, and every Saturday we have a meeting with the Vice-Governor to discuss any difficulties we may have.
Attention in the ISLAZUL facilities is essential so that the athletes can perform to the best of their ability when they take the field. In Ciego de Avila, the director of the branch in this central province, María del Carmen Barcaza Rodríguez, assured that all the conditions are in place in the two accommodation centres that will be set up for the Elite League.
«The two facilities we have available are the Ciego de Avila and Morón hotels, both of which meet the quality standards, have hot and cold water in the rooms, the food is quite varied and they also have generators, among the other services that are usually provided».
