The province of Ciego de Ávila has been reconnected to the National Electricity System (SEN) as of 2:40 pm this Tuesday, a significant step in the recovery process following the total collapse that occurred last Monday, 6 July.
According to information from the Communications Department of the Ciego de Ávila Electric Company, the four 21.8 MW solar parks in the province are generating at maximum capacity, supplying all their energy to the SEN to contribute to the restoration of service.
Electricity supply will be restored gradually, with an estimated approximately one and a half hours per circuit, prioritising those with the longest disruption time. In this regard, priority is being maintained for circuits 2 and 3, which supply the Provincial Hospital, as well as others that guarantee water supply to the population.
This progress takes place within the framework of the national effort to reconnect the system, which has already successfully linked a wide territory from Pinar del Río to Holguín, covering the west, centre and part of the north-east of the country.
Authorities continue working to restore connection with the remaining provinces, with the aim of achieving total system coverage and guaranteeing electricity service to the entire population. The Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, highlighted on his social media the intense work of electrical sector specialists to achieve the SEN recovery.
It is expected that in the coming hours, new provinces will continue to be added to the interconnected system as the necessary technical conditions are created.
