In the municipality of Chambas conditions are created for the development of the influenza vaccination campaign for the year 2024.
This was reported by Eugenia Barrera Chávez, head of the expanded programme of immunisation in the territory. The official explained that this campaign aims to prevent serious complications from influenza in people most at risk, and thus reduce mortality.
According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Public Health, it is foreseen that the aforementioned flu vaccination will begin on 15 July throughout the national territory, starting with the paediatric age group. This first stage includes all infants from 6 months to one year, 11 months and 29 days. In addition to asthmatic children from two years to five years, 11 months and 29 days and infants of the same ages but living in vulnerable communities.
In due course, each family doctor’s office and family nurse’s office in the territory will be calling those who will be included in this first vaccination period.
Subsequently, adults identified as at-risk populations will be included, such as pregnant women, older adults aged 85 years or more, members of grandparents’ homes, type 1 and 2 diabetics, asthmatics and workers at risk in poultry and pig farms, among others.
