In homage to the 3rd National Conference of the Union of Industrial Workers, scheduled for 27 and 28 of this month in Havana, the recovery of broom production at the Juan Antonio Márquez Brush and Plastic Articles Company in Ciego de Ávila was achieved.
It also represents a relevant contribution to the import substitution programme by the Vanguardia Nacional collective in the revival of the elite article in the industry known as Cepil, inaugurated by Che in 1963.
In this work centre, the only one dedicated to the manufacture of household utensils among the 24 entities that transform plastic in the country, Vivian Espinosa Rodríguez, director of the Basic Business Unit of Cepil, explained that the reestablishment of the production cycle of the main item is due to the productive chaining with other local entities and other provinces, which made it possible to guarantee the monofilaments for the production of some five thousand brooms a day.
«The inter-enterprise link allows us to guarantee the resources to manufacture 230,000 units in plan, which we sell to suppliers and it is they who give the final destination to the finished production, cooperative work that allows us to maintain the manufacturing process and avoid the exodus of skilled labour force,» he emphasised.
The Master of Science argued that the most viable solution to boost production for sale to the people of this indispensable item in hygiene, lies in the completion of a machine in the testing phase to make the monofilaments in the industry itself, which are currently in deficit due to financial limitations for the import of raw materials.
Due to these restrictions, Cepil currently manufactures eight products out of a total of 24 in its business portfolio, but keeps its equipment active with the application of alternatives such as the use of the circular economy modality.
The optimal use of recycled materials has enabled the fulfilment of the 2024 sales plan and the approach to the annual production programme to be achieved, according to Oscar Morales Jiménez, general director of the Cepil company, who told Oscar Morales Jiménez.
