The flames spread from a wood fire that had been left burning to the guano roof of the adjoining house.

The recklessness of a 44 year old citizen, who was also an illegal resident, caused the beginning of the fire which caused considerable damage to the beach of Cunagua during the night of Saturday, 15th March.

According to the report of the local authorities, the damage covered 20 rest houses and 189 temporary beach facilities, most of them built with easily combustible materials (guano and wood) and unoccupied at the time of the event.

Considerable damage to electrical networks was also quantified.

The unfortunate event took place in the Urban People’s Council of the northern municipality of Bolivia, exactly in District number 37, at 7:50 pm.
