Cámara Azul, a space dedicated to cinema within the World Festival of Artistic Youth that began this Thursday in Holguín, pays tribute to the 65th anniversary of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (Icaic) and to Cuba’s cinematographic heritage.
This XXXI Romerías de Mayo, the film event surprises with a novelty: daily screenings of audiovisuals on a giant screen located in the San José Park in the City of Parks, from 7:00 until 21:00 (local time).
According to details from the organising committee on social networks, the space will have as guests Luciano Castillo, film critic, researcher and historian; Manuel Herrera, National Film Award; Eslinda Nuñez, National Film Award 2011 and Maestra de Juventudes, and Jorge Perrugorría; National Film Award 2024.
The film proposals include A Night with the Rolling Stones, by director Patricia Ramón; Línea Roja by Alan González, chosen for the closing ceremony on 6 May, at 18:00 (local time).
For the little ones, the Cine Martí will open its doors during the weekend for the enjoyment of a children’s screening.
Cámara Azul: a national and international exhibition and competition of different audiovisual genres, was born in 2004 from the audiovisual section of the Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS) in the province, due to the scarce presence of the genre in the World Festival of Young Artists.
This year, 2024, the youth art event celebrates its 30th anniversary and the 65th anniversary of Casa de las Américas, with an extensive programme of artistic activities and initiatives until May 8.
