The Fidel Castro Ruz Centre, together with Cuban academic and cultural institutions, announces the holding of the First International Colloquium «Fidel Legacy and Future,» an event which will take place from 10 to 13 August at the Havana Convention Palace, Cuba, on the eve of the Commander in Chief’s centenary.
«The meeting proposes to analyse his actions in the political, social, internationalist and human dimensions; to debate his influence on national liberation movements, the Global South and the geopolitics of the 20th and 21st centuries; to reflect on the relevance of his ideas in the struggle against imperialism, inequalities, climate change and for peace and the sovereignty of peoples; and to explore the reception, interpretation and projection of his legacy in art, culture, education and science,» highlighted the website of the Communist Party of Cuba.
In this regard, René González Barrios, director of the Fidel Castro Ruz Centre, extended the invitation from his account on X to historians, political scientists, economists, sociologists, jurists, researchers, politicians, diplomats, journalists and information science specialists, as well as to teachers, students, artists, social leaders, solidarity committees with Cuba and friends of the Cuban Revolution from around the world, with the purpose of making the encounter a space where the critical and plural debate on the contributions of our eternal Historic Leader to contemporary thought is elevated.
The event programme will include a meeting of Fidel Castro Ruz Chairs, a symposium on the Cuban Revolution and other sectoral forums (for youth, for women, of the network of artists, intellectuals and social movements in defence of humanity and the anti-fascist international, and the parliamentary forum, among others).
According to the call, available on the Fidel Castro Ruz Centre’s website, the modes of participation are keynote and thematic lectures, round tables, panels, papers, book presentations, documentaries or related cultural projects.
