Local federation executives shared with the specialised press about issues to face the year 2025.
Starting in March, the baseball agenda for Cuba will intensify, with a varied calendar of national and international events.
According to what was announced on Tuesday, in an exchange between the Cuban Baseball Softball Federation (FCBS) and the specialised press in the Adolfo Luque hall of the capital’s Latin American Stadium, they are working hard on the six parks that will host the third edition of the elite league, which will begin on March 15.
«We believe that there will be a positive response from the competent authorities on the issue of the renovation of the grounds, the remodelling of the clubhouse and dogouts, the regulatory shape of the mound and the repair of the safety mats, among other points made when we made the previous check-up visit,» said Carlos Martin, director of the III Elite League of Cuban Baseball (LEBC).
Martin also explained that among the novelties that this version will have, is the obligation for the directors to announce the starting pitcher one day before.
«In the case that he does so and then changes him without injury or illness, he cannot be included as a reliever,» emphasised the director.
Regarding the upcoming tournament, it was also learned that almost all of the players chosen as reinforcements are already training with their respective teams. And only a few specific cases have yet to be incorporated, but they have already spoken to their managers and have been authorised.
Among the international competitions planned, Las Tunas’ participation in the Champions League in Mexico, from 8 to 13 April, has been confirmed.
«But it will not go exactly with the team it has now to take part in the Elite League. We are analysing this situation in detail and there will be reinforcements from other provinces,» explained FCBS president Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo.
In addition, the head of baseball said that so far Cuba has not received an official invitation to the Caribbean Series, Gran Caracas 2026.
«In the case of the League champion, it should be the one that represents us in next year’s Series of the Americas or in the Caribbean Series itself, in case we are able to attend,» said Pérez Pardo, who made official the departure of pinero Armando Johnson as mentor of the Cuban team.
