The 32nd edition of the Havana International Book Fair, inaugurated on the afternoon of February 15, includes among its first events today a colloquium on the work of writer Francisco Lopez Sacha.
This year, the largest literary show on the island dedicates its ample space to pay tribute to Lopez Sacha, who has devoted much of his life to pedagogy.
The colloquium will be attended by writers Senel Paz, Laidy Fernández de Juan and Arturo Arango, and there will be a presentation of the book «Voy a escribir la eternidad», by the guest author, winner of the Alejo Carpentier Novel Prize 2023 for this work.
This narration deserved the award for being «effectively narrated, mixing testimony and fiction, literary and historical essays, genre vignettes, journalistic chronicles and philosophical reflections, said the president of the jury for this category, Alberto Marrero Fernández, on that occasion.
The city of Manzanillo is the protagonist of Sacha’s story, which, in addition to being the setting, is a resident character in the place, which breathes through the narrative, he said.
Sacha is also an essayist and art professor. He taught Theatrical Thinking for more than 10 years at the Higher Institute of Arts in Havana and graduated with a degree in Literature and specialized in Theatricalogy. In 1977 he began to write.
Some of his stories and essays were translated into German, Italian, Portuguese, English and Russian. In 1980 he was nominated for the National Literature Award.
