Luis Alberto Arce Catacora, President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, expressed his sincere thanks to Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, for his denunciation of the coup attempt that took place this Wednesday in the South American nation.
On the social network X, Arce Catacora acknowledged the support expressed by Cuba in favour of democracy and the Bolivian people.
«We express our most sincere thanks to our brother president of Cuba, @DiazCanelB, who has reproached the failed coup and has expressed his support for democracy and the Bolivian people.»
Different divisions of the Bolivian army mobilised on Wednesday afternoon in the Plaza Murillo in La Paz, a fact that was quickly denounced by leaders of several Latin American nations, including the Cuban head of state, as well as various organisations, who proclaimed their support for the constitutional government of Bolivia.
The coup attempt was defeated within hours, as the military withdrew immediately after the inauguration of their new commanders, consolidating the control and leadership of the constitutional president.
