Juniors Aliàn Borroto and Maikel Daniel García are undefeated with six points at the top of groups 1 and 4 of the Tomás Jiménez National Chess Tournament in Ciego de Ávila.
They are the best-performing players from Avila, with the eighth and ninth rounds taking place today at the Eleazar Jiménez Academy and the Antonio Ñico García Sports History Hall.
The event, which brings together 36 players from seven provinces, ends this Tuesday.
