With the study «Predictive Scale for Kidney Stones in Patients from the Southern Population of Ciego de Ávila, doctor Reinel Rodríguez Pastoriza carried out the pre-defence of his doctoral thesis.

A Second Degree Specialist in Urology, Dr Rodríguez Pastoriza is actively engaged in scientific and research work and is head of the Urology service at the Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola provincial hospital in the Avilanian capital.

He is president of the board of directors of the provincial chapter of the Cuban Society of Urology, from where he promotes and carries out research and clinical care work for the benefit of those suffering from urological diseases.

Furthermore, in March 2025, Dr Reinel Rodríguez Pastoriza received the Grand Prize Doctor Antonio Luaces Iraola, awarded by that hospital to the best scientific work presented each year.

His research, «Risk Factors for Urinary Lithiasis in the Population of Southern Ciego de Ávila», was honoured for its impact and the contribution it offers to the community in solving a health problem.
