The Máximo Gómez Báez University of Ciego de Ávila (UNICA) has begun to implement a new hybrid and blended learning model, in response to the demands of higher education in contemporary Cuba.
The initiative takes up the Martí thought that «to the new world belongs a new university», and seeks to train professionals in line with modern times.
In statements to this news agency, Dr. C. Yurisbel Gallardo Ballat, rector of UNICA, underlined the importance of creativity, a sense of belonging and the constant reinvention of classrooms in the face of current challenges.
The model not only transforms classroom dynamics, but also extends links to municipal centres and promotes projects with social impact, consolidating the university as a living institution of excellence.
UNICA thus positions itself as a benchmark in adapting Cuban higher education to the needs of the 21st century, without losing sight of its scientific essence and its commitment to the territory.
