Doctor of Science Juan Miguel Sando Lopetey represented the Máximo Gómez Báez University of Ciego de Ávila, at the eighth edition of the Dialogue between Civilisations of China and Latin America and the Caribbean held in Wuxi, Jiangsu province.

The prestigious Avilanian pedagogue Sando Lopetey had the honour of delivering the closing words of the event on behalf of the participants from the Caribbean island, in which he highlighted the importance of the meeting for collaboration between higher education institutions from both zones, marked by mutual respect, friendly cooperation and shared benefit.

The eighth edition of the event brought together more than 150 participants from nearly 20 countries, including diplomats, representatives of international organisations, businesspeople and academics from both regions.

Since its creation in 2017, the Dialogue between Civilisations of China and Latin America and the Caribbean has held eight editions. This year it was officially incorporated into the action plan of the Ministerial Meeting of the Dialogue of Global Civilisations, consolidating itself as one of the most influential dialogue platforms between both regions.
