The categorization of 879 teachers directly linked to teaching stands out in this school year as one of the main achievements of General Education in Ciego de Ávila.
Dr. Mario Borroto Pérez, Science and Technology methodologist in the General Directorate of that sector in this province, specified that 696 teachers obtained the category of Specialist Teacher, 181 of Principal Specialist Teacher and two of Expert Teacher.
Borroto Pérez assured that the typification of educators allows raising the quality of teaching at all educational levels, including in training centers, and the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (Inder).
For her part, Cenilda Díaz Rivero, director of the José de la Luz y Caballero elementary school in Ciego de Ávila, insisted that, in addition to social recognition, it constitutes an economic stimulus, which ranges from 250.00 to 700.00 pesos, depending on the category, something longed for by educators.
The Science and Technology methodologist in the General Directorate of Education in the province reported that in the 2023-2024 school period, this process is expected to be carried out in the month of January, which begins with the delivery of the applications.
To opt for any of the three categories, it is mandatory to be a graduate of a higher level and have the evaluation of Very Good or Good, while those who aspire to the Specialist level must have at least five uninterrupted years in the sector and results in events.
Meanwhile, to be a Principal Specialist, it is necessary to be a Master’s or Postgraduate Specialist, and to opt for the category of Expert Teacher it is essential to hold the scientific degree of Doctor of Science and have 10 years of uninterrupted pedagogical work.
