Cuban singer Arnaldo Rodríguez dedicated the song Aunque sople el viento (Even if the wind blows), composed almost two decades ago, a song of hope and strength dedicated to the western province of Pinar del Río.
From the social network Facebook, the Cuban artist shared the lyrics of this song, which is part of the repertoire of the album La Lucesita, published in 2005 with his group El Talismán and under the label of Recording and Music Publishing Company, Egrem.
The piece tries to transmit encouragement to the people of Pinar del Río, the most affected after the passage of Hurricane Ian through the island, which left a high balance of damage to the housing fund, the economy, communications and the electric power system.
«Even if the wind blows, even if the cold presses, the green of hope blooms in Pinar del Río», refer the first verses of the song, which evokes the beautiful natural landscapes of Vueltabajo, its tradition as tobacco producers and the impact of the musician known as «natural Guajiro», Polo Montañés.
With the sentence: «between rivers and pine forests my land flourishes», the interpreter highlights the resilience of the people of Pinar del Río to overcome adversities, while defending the hashtags #FuerzaCuba #CubaEsAmor #PinardelRío.
Pinar del Río received last September 27 for six hours the direct lash of Hurricane Ian, which crossed its territory from the south, with category three on the Saffir-Simpson scale (out of five) and sustained winds of more than 200 kilometers per hour.
The tropical organism caused significant damage, yet to be fully quantified, to agriculture, tobacco houses, the electrical and telephone network, housing, roads and economic infrastructure.
