The relevant results in 2023 strengthened the purpose of the organization’s members to regain the status of National Vanguard.

Reconquering the status of National Vanguard constitutes one of the main commitments for 2024, in homage to the process of its IX Congress to be held in November of this year, of the members of the National Association of the Blind (ANCI), in the municipality of Ciro Redondo, located in the center of the province of Ciego de Avila.

Pablo León Águila, president of the organization in that locality, informed that only in the Covid-19 stage they could not ratify the superior category because the ANCI emulation was stopped, due to the complex epidemiological situation of the country.

He considered that 2023 was decisive to recover the results of the comprehensive work, endorsed by the maximum qualification in the provincial and national control and assistance visits, in whose verifications the vitality of all the tasks was recognized with the support of the
municipal authorities in relation to compliance with agreement number 9040, of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers, for the follow-up and monitoring of the provisions of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

León Águila also highlighted the link with the institutions for the development of cultural, sports and recreational activities, among which he mentioned the meeting on the third Friday of each month at the Carlos Puebla House of Culture, sports tourism and the competitions of a ball team adapted to the conditions of blind people.

The municipality of Ciro Redondo was the first in the province of Ciego de Avila to constitute 45 years ago the Association of the Blind that groups 53 people with this disability, but without impediments to be linked to useful activities to society and within the family.
