A fair designed to introduce young people to artificial intelligence (AI) usage, featuring personalised training spaces, will take place this Thursday, organisers announced today.
Under the motto «Inspiring Action,» the event at Havana’s Computing Palace near Fraternity Park aims to help young participants develop skills in interacting with AI languages, research, and critical thinking.
A press note from the UN System in Cuba – the project lead, also marking the UN’s 80th anniversary activities on the island – highlights that the fair will stimulate best practices through training and showcase leading projects.
Concurrently, an exhibition fair will feature state and non-state sector projects demonstrating significant leadership in technology management.
Representatives from these initiatives will share lessons learned from their experiences to establish benchmarks for efficiently generating AI solutions among participating organisations or individuals.
The AI fair will promote ethical usage by linking it to equity-focused solutions and encouraging critical engagement with potential biases, stereotypes, or discrimination reproduced through AI tools.
The call emphasises this approach, coinciding with recent global discussions. A summit sponsored by the International Telecommunication Union stressed the need for global collaboration to advance responsible AI use and strengthen governance models that bridge the digital divide while empowering vulnerable groups.
The «Inspiring Action» initiative is supported by UNESCO, Youth Computer Clubs, and the Cuban United Nations Association, alongside multiple national entities.
Participants include the Ministry of Communications, the University of Havana’s Mathematics and Communication Faculties, the Cuban Computer Scientists Union, the University of Information Sciences, among other institutions.
