The biggest celebration for the 85th anniversary of the Cuban Workers’ Union will be on the day of its birthday, January 28, 2024, coinciding with the date of José Martí’s birth, although tribute activities have already begun in Ciego de Ávila.

Mariset Hernández Rodríguez, member of the Provincial Secretariat of the CTC, recalled the leadership in the founding phase of the organization by Lázaro Peña González at the head of the National Confederation of Workers of Cuba and his role in strengthening the unity that has become its main strength for the integral functioning of the union movement.

She highlighted that the program covers four stages, between the fourth of this month and May 29 of next year, with a view to commemorating historical dates, strengthening union structures and carrying out actions to support the economy.

She mentioned among the tasks the celebration these days of the respective anniversaries of the Industrial, Energy and Mining and Cultural Workers Unions, as well as the development of the Conference process in the Health, Construction, Food and Fishing Unions and Transportation and Ports.

She said that the day of the worker in each sector will be celebrated with initiatives aimed at recognizing the most outstanding, voluntary work, days dedicated to hygiene, cultural activities and sporting events, among which the Workers’ Baseball Cup that will begin in the present month.

The program, which includes the flag parade for the 85th birthday of the CTC, was approved at a recent meeting of Ciego union members, in which the behavior of care for non-state workers, the improvement of conditions in workplaces, the proposed economic plan for 2024 and other topics.
