Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, Hero of the Republic of Cuba and coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) presented the September 28th medal to Lieutenant Colonel Richard Maché, chief of operations of the Ciego de Ávila Fire Department, for his participation in the actions to mitigate the fire at the Super tanquer Base in Matanzas.
In his area of residence with relatives and neighbors, the Lieutenant Colonel proudly received such distinction and assured that he will always be wherever the Revolution needs him and highlighted the value of the men and women who worked tirelessly to weaken that sinister accident.
In this sense, the Hero of the Republic of Cuba and coordinator of the CDR, emphasized the solidarity of the CDR members demonstrated during those days and called to attend very early next September 25 to give the Yes for the new Code of the Families, which is based on love and respect.
In the province, 10 outstanding CDR memners will also receive the September 28 medal, another 8 the Distinction for the Defense of the Homeland and the Neighborhood Award to an educational institution in the municipality of Florencia, in addition to an outstanding family in the locality of Baraguá.
The award ceremony was attended by Liván Izquierdo Alonso, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Ciego de Ávila province, accompanied by government authorities and mass organizations of the territory.
