Action returns today in the 64th National Baseball Series

The National Baseball Commission confirmed that today the 64th National Series will resume after two sessions interrupted by the collapse of the National Electrical System, which totally paralysed activity in Cuba.

According to circular number four issued yesterday, the matches scheduled for Thursday were suspended at all venues, and this Friday doubleheaders will be played from 10:00, local time, in order to recover what was lost.

At the Latinoamericano stadium, Industriales will attempt to come back against Mayabeque in the sealed duel from Tuesday, when the Huracanes were leading 5-3 in the fifth episode with a home run from Maikol Barroso. Later both teams will hold the clash corresponding to Wednesday.

A similar dynamic will be experienced in Artemisa, where the Cazadores and Cienfuegos must first complete their unfinished challenge before jumping to a second commitment.

The attention of the session also points towards the Guillermón Moncada, where the Santiago Wasps will seek to shake off the embarrassment suffered on Tuesday, when Pinar del Río defeated them 22-0 to snatch their unbeaten record and force them to share the summit with Matanzas and Sancti Spíritus.

Crocodiles and Roosters, for their part, arrive with momentum after winning their latest duels, while Granma, Holguín and Las Tunas will also try to sustain the rhythm.

The suspended programming from Thursday was transferred entirely to Sunday the 14th, which will imply an additional load in the already intense championship agenda.

Amid this reorganisation, the National Commission yesterday published the results of the voting that distinguished the most outstanding players of the first week: the Santiago outfielder Yoelquis Guibert, with three home runs and 12 runs batted in, and the Sancti Spíritus pitcher Fernando Betanzo, author of three victories without defeats and an ERA of 1.35.

Both stand as references of a tournament that, despite the setbacks, keeps the enthusiasm of the fans alive.
