The General Customs of the Republic recently detected at José Martí International Airport a passenger attempting to introduce ingested drugs, seizing 48 capsules containing cocaine, reported Wiliam Pérez González, First Deputy Head of the institution.
Pérez González stated on his profile on the social media platform X that the detection was the result of a risk analysis carried out by Customs and the Anti-Drug Agency, which constitutes a strength in the fight against international drug trafficking.
The official explained that this modus operandi represents a serious risk to the lives of those transporting the illicit substance, and reaffirms Cuba’s zero-tolerance policy towards drug trafficking.
The General Customs of the Republic maintains its strategy of closing ranks at the border against the scourge of drugs, in compliance with state policy to protect the health and safety of the population.
