Students of all types and levels of education from the Avilanian municipality of Morón will pay a well-deserved homage of remembrance and respect to the National Hero José Martí, as the 173rd anniversary of his birth is commemorated this 28th of January.
The March of the Torches and the traditional Martiano Parade will be central parts of the day’s events, while activities to highlight the life and work of the Apostle will take place in educational institutions.
Competitions and gatherings about Martí will allow for a deeper exploration of his legacy, intimately linked to his anti-imperialism and the challenges still faced by Our America, one of the most significant facets of his political ideology and his revolutionary practice.
Likewise, students will link the figure of the Apostle with the work of the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, also using the commemoration of the Centenary of his birth to exalt a thought closely connected to the Martiano legacy.
