After two years of inactivity due to a lack of raw material, the lines that manufacture toothbrushes and plastic brooms, the only ones in Cuba that make these household items, have entered production
Belonging to the Basic Business Unit (Ueb) Brush Factory, of the Juan Manuel Márquez Brush and Plastic Articles Company (CEPIL), a leader in the manufacture of plastic articles, the reactivation was possible due to a strategic alliance with other economic sectors of society, in this case, with the Iprami Local Development Project, from the municipality of Camajuaní, in the province of Villa Clara
According to Leidys Mercedes Madroñal, director of the Ueb, the broom line produced the first 9,620 units and the toothbrush line raised the figure to some 21,700 items, with a guarantee of continuing the production process, although it does not yet meet the needs of households in the country due to limitations with the raw material, even though the installed capacity far exceeds both figures
Founded on 13 February 1963 by Commander Ernesto Che Guevara, this Avilanian company, at full capacity, is capable of producing more than 60 products, backed by a quality management system certified by the international standards ISO 9000
