Through productive actions, individual and collective recognition for extraordinary work merits, the protagonists of investments and water resource management and control in Cuba pay homage to the driving force behind the hydraulic mission, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, ahead of the 99th anniversary of his birth on the 13th of the present month.
Also marking the 63rd anniversary of the National Institute of Water Resources (INRH) and 10th August, Hydraulic Worker’s Day, Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of said institute, and Misael Rodríguez Llanes, general secretary of the National Union of Construction Workers, sent a communiqué to active and retired men and women of the sector.
The text highlights that the finest tribute to such celebrations is continuing works sustained by an efficient investment process benefiting more people and improving quality of life in vulnerable neighbourhoods.
Working strategically to eliminate leaks, blockages, overflowing cesspits, and guaranteeing maintenance quality for the infrastructure of the organisation is essential, the document states.
The message underscores that, amid the nation’s energy contingency, working swiftly and effectively on changing the energy matrix – particularly in potable water pumping stations – and maintaining a high technical availability coefficient for equipment is required, supported by innovators in every workplace.
«We can proudly and emotionally state that water in Cuba is in good hands, hence we wish to congratulate workers for their will, intelligence and dedication, calling upon them to continue building the future,» concludes the communiqué.
Tribute activities for Hydraulic Worker’s Day present the opportunity to award the Faustino Pérez Seal, Armando Mestre distinction, and Labour Feat commendation to workers and entities with outstanding work, trade union and social records – chiefly from Villa Clara, Avilanian Ciego de Ávila, Las Tunas and Artemisa provinces, this year’s most comprehensively performing in water resource management.
