Ciego de Ávila Hosts Cultural Gala Honoring Moncada Legacy

Ciego de Ávila’s Teatro Principal hosted a special cultural gala on the eve of the 72nd anniversary of the attacks on Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks. The event, attended by Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez and about 600 residents, marked the province’s fourth time hosting national July 26 celebrations.

The gala featured performances by renowned national and local artists, including the Telón Abierto dance troupe, D’Morón Teatro company, singer Luis Miguel Lago, and young talents from the Hermanos Saíz Association. Through music, dance, and poetry, the program paid tribute to Cuba’s revolutionary heroes while showcasing iconic elements of Cuban culture like chachachá, danzón, and works by poet Nicolás Guillén.

Senior leaders accompanying the President included Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, Communist Party Organisation Secretary Roberto Morales Ojeda, and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. Ciego de Ávila earned the honour of hosting this year’s national commemoration through its strong performance in key socioeconomic areas like agricultural production and local development.
