Construction progresses on the Carolina photovoltaic solar park in Venezuela

The construction of the Carolina Photovoltaic Solar Park located in the Avilanian municipality of Venezuela, with a generation capacity of 21.87 megawatts (MW), is 94% complete.

During the check of the work Julio Gómez Casanova, First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Party and Alfre Menéndez Pérez, Governor of Avila, confirmed that the work is ready for synchronisation with the National Electricity System, this Friday, May 30, incorporating two months ahead of schedule.

Intense work is being carried out at the new site, where more than 600 workers from various entities, including the Electricity Company, the Construction and Assembly Company, the Cubiza Base Business Unit and the Industrial Design Unit (EDIN), are working every day.

Ciego de Avila expects to be the first province to be totally self-sufficient in renewable energy at some point in 2025, because in addition to solar energy, it has the Ciro Redondo bioelectric plant, which provides around 30 MW.

Divided into two programmes A and B, as they are from two different investors, Cuba is making progress in the construction of 92 psfv of 21.87 MW each, which by the end of 2026 will allow it to have around two thousand MW of this installed capacity for the hours of solar irradiation.
