The workers, volunteer assistants and veterans of the Cuban Red Cross in Ciego de Avila, who will be celebrating their anniversary on the eighth of July, are dedicated to giving effect to Martí’s precept that there is no true greatness without simplicity and generosity.

The members of this humanitarian group in Ciego de Avila are celebrating the date with the commitment to provide better service and to devote themselves entirely to their sensitive work.

Among the actions undertaken by these men and women in their beautiful task are family reunification, relief operations, water safety and public relations.

In 1909, Dr. Diego Tamayo Figueredo, inspired by the example of the Swiss Henry Dunan, created the most humanistic organization on the planet, the Red Cross, which dedicates its work to the most needy, the most vulnerable and to the benefit of humanity.
